To look up in the night sky is to look back in time, a gentle reminder that the universe remains an ancient storybook written in starlight.  

Hello my name is Ryan and a warm welcome to Asterismos. It is my pleasure for you to join me on this journey unravelling the mysteries of the night sky. 

For as long as I can remember, I have always been curious about the way things work and forever asking my favorite question, Why?  Ultimately it was this curiosity led me to pursue a degree in physics. As part of these studies, I was fortunate enough to take a trip to the island of La Palma where our group was lucky enough to study the cosmos under some of the best night skies anywhere in the world (short of travelling to space itself). This trip fueled a newfound passion for astronomy, a  

I started the Asterismos blog as a way to share my knowledge in a way that is accessible to the layman, explaining the phenomena that we observe high above our heads in simple terms hoping to find others who share the same passion. This blog is not for experts (although I hope is stands up to their critique) but rather for the interested individual. If you have ever looked skywards and felt entranced, this is the place for you.
